Summer Youth Program Sign-Ups

June 1 & 3 are the dates for sign-ups for a number of summer youth programs in the Village of Westfield. Sign-ups will be held at the Eason Hall from 6 – 8 p.m. for the following programs:

· Swim lessons for all ages from infants (water acclimation program) through lifesaving and swim team. There is a fee for non-residents.

Welch Field Summer Program of games, sports, crafts, trips, street hockey, special events (carnival, triathlon, 3v3 basketball, family bonfire)

Free lunch program.

· Drama Workshop

· Library Programs

· YWCA Programs

Soccer Skills Training for interested players from the area, ages 6 and up, will be held at NorthLake Family Recreation Center, Nichols Ave., Westfield. Tuesday evenings, July 6 thru August 10, from 6-8 pm. No charge. No registration necessary.

The annual Fishing and Casting Derby for Kids was held Saturday, June 20, 2009 from

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Westfield Fish and Game Club on Ogden Road. The derby is for all children in the area, ages 5 to 12. There is no charge and lunch will be provided.

A parent or guardian must be in attendance.

Participants bring a pole and bait (no minnows). A limited number of poles and a shovel is available.

This event is co-sponsored by Wal-Mart, Westfield Fish and Game Club and the Westfield Recreation Department. Call the Westfield Recreation Department at 326-4243 for more information.

The Westfield Skate Park will be open**:

Hours are:

Monday thru Friday, 10 am to 9 pm, and

Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 6 pm.

Helmets are required and a number of them are available for use at the skate park.

Weather permitting. Helmets are required. We have a number of helmets available to borrow.

**The skatepark is a supervised venue and hours are dependant upon supervisor availability.

Westfield Skate Park’s First Annual Competition

The Westfield Skate Park’s First Annual Skate-Scoot-Bike Competition was held on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Westfield Skate Park, located on Union Street.

Women’s Soccer League Forming

A soccer league for women (6 v 6) is being planned to run on Monday and Wednesday evenings starting on June 28. Interested teams or individuals should call 326-4243. High School players are welcome.

The pool will be closed on Sundays.

Annual Invitational Swim Meet at the Westfield Pool

The Annual Invitational Swim Meet will be held on Saturday, August 14 at the Westfield Welch Field Pool. For more information or to pre-register, contact the Pool Office at 326-4441. Pre-registration is not required but is requested.

Fall Soccer Sign ups
