July 14  -  18,  2003

Northwest Girls take first place in two Tournaments !!
A varsity indoor soccer team coached by Venn Blakely recenty took first place in two indoor tournaments. 

Playing for Northwest at the Fredonia State indoor soccer tournament on Feb.8, 2004, was Kris Blakely, Meg Maggitti, Shannon Ecklund, Jessica Lassen, Maura Hayes, Sarah Meabon, Jacquie Holmberg, Tara Sturzenbecker, Karla Vogt, and Megan Swoger. The girls edged out Grand Island in the semi-finals by one goal and Fredonia in the finals in overtime, also by one goal.



On Feb.28, 2004, the team placed first in the Houghton College indoor soccer tournament. Playing for Northwest was

The team was undefeated, and due to a strong defense, unscored on. After winning their pool, they defeated Addison, Houghton (1-0 with 4 overtimes), then went on to defeat Letchworth in the finals 4-0.
Three members of the team, Stephanie Karst, Tara Sturzenbecker, and Karla Vogt, were awarded All -Tournament team honors by the tournament commitee.

Soccer Skills Training

  Soccer Skills Training for interested players from the area, ages 6 and up, will be held at NorthLake Family Recreation Center, Nichols Ave., Westfield. Tuesday evenings, July 6 thru August 10, 2010, from 6-8 pm.   No charge. No registration necessary.
